[00:00] Paulette: Hey mis amigues, welcome to day nine of the LVMC Podcast Block Party. Once again, I’m Paulette Erato, the host of La Vida Más Chévere de Childfree Latinas and the birthday girl. Have I told you the story of how my new gynecologist kept yelling cancer at me before she ever examined me? I’m pretty sure I referenced it when interviewing Ana Lopez recently, as we talked about medical advocacy. It’s something we all need and not merely, because this is an interesting stat, about 40% of the population will have or has already dealt with some sort of cancer diagnosis in their lifetime.

[00:37] And we probably all know someone who has been through it. So what do you do when you hear that word from the doctor? Cancer survivor, actually scratch that. Cancer thriver and host of Navigating Cancer Together, Talaya Dendy, BCPA has the answer for you. She shares her own journey and those of her guests, so no one has to feel alone navigating their own diagnosis or that of a loved one.

[01:02] Please enjoy Navigating Cancer Together.

[01:05] Talaya: When you hear the words, “you have cancer,” it’s a trip and it’s natural to feel fear, uncertainty, and overwhelm. I felt it too. Am I going to die? What does this mean for my future? How am I going to get through this? How will this affect my family and loved ones?

[01:22] Where do I turn for help and support? All of these are valid questions, and you’re not alone. Hi, I’m  Talaya Dendy, a Cancer Thriver, cancer doula, advocate and guide. I’ve walked this path and I’m here to guide you.

[01:36] Speaker: Your title is what drew me to wanting to be on your show. Doing something by yourself is entirely different than doing something with others. When you get your village or when you get your people together, big things can happen. I love the concept of navigating cancer together because that’s the truth. You gotta do it with somebody, do it together.

[01:55] Talaya: On Wednesdays, my guests and I will tackle all of these questions and more on my show, Navigating Cancer Together, a cancer podcast for patients, survivors, and caregivers.

[02:06] I’ll share my own story of navigating cancer, offering raw honesty and helpful tips. I’ll also interview guests including cancer survivors, caregivers, wellness champions, as well as medical experts to provide a comprehensive view of the cancer experience. We’ll explore everything from healthcare decisions to emotional wellbeing.

[02:28] Whether you’re newly diagnosed or a seasoned cancer survivor, you’ll find the support, hope, and information that you need to navigate this journey. Subscribe now to Navigating Cancer Together on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts. And let’s navigate this journey together. Share this podcast with a friend or loved one who needs support, navigate cancer more easily, feel hopeful, and be better informed. Thank you for listening.

[02:58] Paulette: Hey mira! If you love this trailer as much as I did, then seriously go subscribe to the show right now. All the links to do that are in the show notes. Y no se te olvide, this is all part of my birthday celebration, so keep tuning in every weekday to discover new podcasts you might enjoy. And of course, if you’ve got thoughts, dígame! DM me on Instagram or send me a text from your phone right now.[03:21] There’s always a link in the show notes for that too. Muchísimas gracias for celebrating my birthday with me. Y hasta la próxima vez, that’s a burrito.
