[00:00] Paulette: Hey mis amigues. Welcome to day six of the LVMC Podcast Block Party. Yes, we’re keeping it going. Hi, I’m Paulette Erato, the host of this podcast, La Vida Más Chévere de Childfree Latinas. And the birthday girl. Well, my birthday passed this weekend, but since Molly was able to ease us into the weekend with her calmness, let’s continue that trend with Dr. Cassandre Dunbar as she eases us into this new week.
[00:28] Dr. Dunbar isn’t merely a medical doctor, a professor, and a mom of two. She’s also the soothing voice behind the podcast, Be Well, Sis. It’s the perfect start to make this another great week. Her podcast is how I learned that the Black Panthers were responsible for starting school breakfast programs across the country, which was instrumental information for my episode about No Kid Hungry a few back. Linked it in the show notes for you. And now let’s enjoy. Be Well, Sis.
[01:01] Cassandre: Edit audio. Welcome to the Be Well, Sis podcast, where black women are the center for conversations around wellness and not a mere afterthought. Join me, Dr. Cassandre Dunbar as we share the experiences and expertise from some of the most fascinating women in wellness.
[01:16] So maybe for you, again, it’s individualism. Maybe it’s this belief that you have to do everything yourself and that you are a failure if you don’t. It absolutely stayed with me. I did not realize how much I had been like, biting my tongue. Well, I wasn’t that little girl who grew up like, I can’t wait to be a mom.
[01:31] I, yeah, I could very much wait to be a mom. We’ll be talking about everything. From tougher discussions on things like the black maternal health crisis and healing intergenerational wounds to more lighthearted laughs around relationships and navigating parenthood, to sharing some of my own personal wellness journey and what’s on my radar. This is our space to get it together mentally, physically, and spiritually.
[01:55] Welcome to the podcast, but importantly, welcome to the tribe. Be Well, Sis. Follow us wherever you get your podcast.
[02:04] Paulette: Hey mira! If you love this trailer as much as I did, then seriously go subscribe to the show right now. All the links to do that are in the show notes. Y no se te olvide, this is all part of my birthday celebration, so keep tuning in every weekday to discover new podcasts you might enjoy.
[02:21] And of course, if you’ve got thoughts, dígame! DM me on Instagram or send me a text from your phone right now. There’s always a link in the show notes for that too. Muchísimas gracias for celebrating my birthday with me. Y hasta la próxima vez, that’s a burrito.
